Glyph of Consecration or...

...Glyph of Hammer of the Righteous for a Prot Pally?

My other two major glyphs are Seal of Vengeance and Divine Plea, and I'm not sure what to devote the third slot to. HotR gets me an extra target for pulls bigger than 3, while Consecration would make said spell last an extra 2 seconds. The thing is though, is Consecration's extra duration going to be a problem with tanking rotations? Does glyphing Consecration cause it to do less damage per "tick?"

So right now it looks like:

Major 1: Glyph of Divine Plea
Major 2: Glyph of Seal of Vengeance
Major 3: ???
Minor 1: Glyph of Lay Hands
Minor 2: Glyph of Sense Undead
Minor 3: Glyph of Blessing of Kings

So, HotR, or Consecration for the last major slot?

There are multiple fights where taunt switching is mandatory (or at least makes life a lot easier). Missing with a taunt can result in difficulties up to and including a wipe.

While Paladins have two taunts on short cooldowns, you may not always have the option to risk using Righteous Defense if there are adds involved that you don't want to also be tanking. There's also the possibility, however slim it is, that you might miss RD as well.

Also, IIRC, Glyph of Consecration breaks the 969 rotation.

Righteous Defense it is then.

So I have:

Major 1: Glyph of Divine Plea
Major 2: Glyph of Seal of Vengeance
Major 3: Glyph of Righteous Defense
Minor 1: Glyph of Lay Hands
Minor 2: Glyph of Sense undead
Minor 3: Glyph of Blessing of Kings

Also, does a Prot spec have to be talented PERFECTLY with EVERY point or is there some freedom of choice after core talents are taken? Currently my build plan is 51/18, taking Conviction and Sanctity of Battle in the Ret tree, and the last two points are up for debate. I'm leaning to Pursuit of Justice for reduced disarm durations and the ability to move faster in dungeons, which can help when I have to scramble to pick up adds or in raid fights that require a lot of moment, or Vindication to reduce the attack power of whatever I'm tanking, although it seems like an insignificant amount, or Guardian's Favor for a longer lasting Hand of Freedom. Not sure which to go, but it's either Sanctity of Battle OR Crusade, but not both. Which would be better, the 3% extra damage, or the 3% extra crits?

Here's what it would look like, the way I envision it: http://talentcalc.deffender.eu/paladin?tal=000000000000000000000000000500513520310231133331230150230050203000000000000000

Hm. That talent link isn't working for me.

There are a bulk of essential talents, but a handful of points can be moved around. Maximum survivability, maximum threat, or some blend of the two. What build you should be running on is based on your gear, your particular tanking role, and a bit of preference/opinion.

Improved Judgments: 2/2 --> 1/2 is enough
Conviction: 5/5 ---> Don't need that at all
Sanctity of Battle: 3/3 ---> Don't need that at all

instead go for

2/2 Judgement of the Just (in protection)
2/2 Vindication because its a mandatory one (u wont do any threat if u are dead)
3/3 Crusade is better than any other threat talent u can get cuz for 3 points u get 6% dmg
u are also getting 2/2 in Improved Blessing of Might for when u don't Have a warrior with Improved or a Ret paladin.
