Old player from 10 years ago - I need your help

Hi there!
It just so happened that I was checking out the Dalaran-WoW website and forums after... well, quite literally a decade, I think. I have gone through the announcements and the forum posts, but still have a few questions, to make sure I understand correctly, what has been going on. If you, who are reading this now, have the time and happen to have some of the answers as well, I'd appreciate your input on the following: - I understand Kirin Tor (what was already the "old" server back ten years ago, when Algalon was lit) does not exist anymore. Is that right? In 'Account Management' I can still see that there are some characters of mine linked to that server. What happened to them? If you don't know, that's fine. I was not really active on Kirin Tor anyways ;) - More importantly, my lvl 80 chars on Algalon. I understand I can log in to Algalon and play there, if I wanted to. Is that correct? (I hear its mostly empty nowadays, due to the new progression realm) - And if I wanted to start a new journey, I could do so, on the new server - it's called 'Dalaran', is that right? - How 'new' is it, and is Era 1 already fully progressed? - What would be the experience like, meaning, I create a new lvl 1 char on Dalaran, and then level to 80, after which I can access a so-called 'vault', to get items I have on my Algalon characters? - What if I wanted to play my Algalon character on the new server, at some point? Would I have to pay for a character transfer, or is there a mechanic, that allows me to 'bring over' the characters from the 'old' Algalon server? - As I happen to have (or had, I don't know if my items on Algalon still exist...) full Heirloom sets, would I have access to them right from the start on the new server? And if not, I still have quite a few 'voting points' back from the good ol' days. But I understand the Voting Point Shop is broken, is that right? I know, a lot of questions - I just want to make sure I understand the implications of starting a new character, and want to make a well founded decision, if I am going to spend my time, leveling up again. Hi, I don't think you can create any new characters on Algalon, it's locked for good. There was a time you took a snapshot on Algalon characters then play them on Dalaran, as the tiers unlocked you would get access to gear you had. It was a cool idea but a lot of people disliked it,
so the server to play on is Dalaran, I'm not sure about active population... haven't seen people around really |

Edited on 2024-07-08 14:48:08 The 1st server (Kirin Tor) doesn't exist anymore. It has been removed.
Algalon server still exists, but it's locked. Nobody can access the server for now. If you had 80lvl characters on Algalon around middle August '22, then those characters have been copied to Dalaran Era1. On Dalaran Era1, we did progressed all the phases in the last 2 years, so the vault is accessible and all gear unlocked (no restrictions). Just note, that only the gear is available via the Vault. No money (except 500g on your 1st char), or other items are available. Population has been decreased dramatically in the last 2 months, since there are no news about the future of the server, or the release of Era2. |
