10+ year veteran here. I appreciate all that you have done so much. I did not play era 1 as I was not a fan of my progress being reset and of course the timing was about as bad as it possibly could have been with Blizzard launching Wrath of the Lich King classic around the same time. However, I will say that now is about as good of a time as there will ever be to do era 2.

Why? Wrath of the Lich King classic is over. Cataclysm is terrible. Season of Discovery has severely waned in popularity. Warmane is practically the only viable game in town as far as Wrath servers go. People are clamoring for a fresh Wrath server from a known entity.

My suggestion would be to permanently maintain two servers, one seasonal and one persistent. The seasonal (like Dalaran era 1) merges into the persistent (like Algalon) after the season is over. I do believe that was the original plan for era 1. I understand that may be cost prohibitive, but I would really like to see Dalaran "take another swing" rather than completely dying out.

Anyway, thank you for hearing me out. I will stay tuned for future updates.

The recent problem is that the dev weren't responsive.
It could go both ways: Dalwow was a great server or Dalwow is still going on. I think both are acceptable. Online community doesnt last for so long!
But if there is a revival, i know many would come back to see whats up ;)

Agreed. Now or in the near future is going to be the time to try and attract those wayward wow classic players back. Whether thats with another Era right off the bat or a merge back to one server to get people ready, I don't know.

I think it would have been advantageous to merge Era 1 back into Algalon back when they shut it down so everyone could have been on one server again during this lull. In fact, that probably would be the best way to handle the end of each era. Merge back to one and then have a few months off to enjoy all of your things together before starting the new Era.

I think it may be a nightmare to merge things back together tho...and I think that's why the merge never happened. This character (Vareir) has changed from the time it was on Algalon to its time on Era 1. It's probably a lot of work to merge everyone's characters back together again. I'm not a programmer or a database person though so i really don't know.

At the end of the day I'm just a casual player. I loved hopping on once or twice a week and running a few dungeons or leveling alts. Algalon was fun for me for several years before the Era reboot. I know that my situation is probably different than most others that were playing more seriously and running raids and stuff...but I hope someday to be able to get back to Algalon and start working on those characters again!

I want to make an addendum to this post because this was done before the announcement and the corresponding poll about the future of the server.

I was only posting in favor of "era 2" because I thought it was a settled issue and it was just a matter of when. Given the poll and the options we were given, I am firmly in support of the "Algalon Reloaded" idea. It may not have the novelty population boost that a fresh server would create, but I believe that is the option that best respects all the time and effort us veterans of the server have put in and gives us a reason to keep coming back.

To Loth and the Dalaran staff, I just want to re-iterate how appreciative I am of everything you guys do. Dalaran-WoW has been my home for over a decade and I sincerely hope it will be so for the next decade to come.

+1 to Sacrificeme's addendum. I think Algalon Reloaded is the best path forward. I would also like to put my appreciation out to Dalaran-WoW Staff! Thank you!

I don't know that I have ever directly interacted with you previous to this. Crazy after all these years. Anyway, I feel the conclusion you arrived it may be the best of all worlds. Giving the fresh crowd a completely new server and giving us long-timers Algalon back should (hopefully) help re-ignite the flame here. I'm excited for the future!
