About freeing your Algalon's name.

Hello community,
We believe some players might have misunderstood what the Algalon freeing name feature was for. It is NOT a name reservation - it is the opposite. Someone might want to use the name from its level 80 character on a fresh character when the new realm starts. As this would not be possible because your Algalon level 80s will be there by default, we offered the choice to free names in order to be able to use them. All those who used the tool made those character names available (for everyone), so be ready to reserve them. We wanted to clarify that just in case. Cheers! |

If you had one (or more) characters on Algalon already holding names (not level 80s, just some placeholders)... could you delete those from Algalon (when the new realm releases) and straight away use those names on the new realm? or will there be some delay/lag for the databases to get update across the different realms?

Hello!
It is a new realm, so only the names there will be the ones unavailable. Just the level 80s from Algalon will have the names reserved by default so your placeholders' names will be free. Deleting characters in Algalon will not have any effect in the new realm either. Hope it helps! |

What is going to happen in this case?
'NameX' is a level 20 character of Account1 on Algalon A new player (Account2) create a character called 'NameX' on the new Dalaran realm Account2 keeps playing on Dalaran untill the end of the Era. His character 'NameX' reaches level 70 by that time, not level 80 as the level cap At the end of the Era this 'NameX' character is trasferred to Algalon... but now we have two character with the same name, owned by two different Account/People and none of them is level 80 |

It's likely that the character from Account2 would get a "x" or some other letter added to the end of their name when the transfer happens since Account1 already has the name taken on Algalon. |

Hello!
@Heara: Lower levels didn’t get their name reserved, only the level 80s that come from Algalon. So, if in further snapshots that character transfers to Dalaran, they will have a random letter added to the name because that name is already taken. Unfortunately, we can’t reserve all the names from Algalon, as there are gazillions of them. If someone has freed their name by mistake; we will help you to recover it, no worries at all. We can’t do anything until the 80s are unlocked, so keep the name on a low level character and after that, if it is not done automatically you can contact us via ticket and it will be sorted out. Cheers! |
